Arrow Exterminators’ Family Receives Industry’s Highest Honors

Arrow Exterminators' CEO and Chairman of the Board, Joe Thomas, has been inducted into the Pest Management Professional Magazine's Pest Control Hall of Fame, Class of 2009. This prestigious honor, chosen by peers in the pest management field, recognizes four pest professionals each year. The award is given to recipients who have demonstrated superior dedication to the pest management industry through leadership, education and service.

Additionally, Thomas' daughter, President and Chief Operating Officer, Emily Thomas Kendrick, has also been recognized as an industry leader. This year, she has been named the first recipient of the Women of Excellence Award by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), a trade association for the pest control industry representing over 5,000 members worldwide. The award honors women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and who make notable contributions to the development and growth of the profession and other women in the industry.

"There are more than 18,000 pest control companies in the country. We are so proud that Emily and Joe have received these prestigious recognitions from amongst so many of their peers," said Cindy Mannes, Chief Marketing Officer. "It is great to see a family owned company recognized for its leadership and commitment to excellence in all aspects of life."

The family owned and operated company currently employs over 1,000 employees in eight states. Thomas started working at Arrow under his father, founder Starkey Thomas. In 25 years, Thomas grew Arrow into a $100 million company. "While we perform pest control services, we are really in the people business," says Thomas. "I'm proud to be Arrow's second generation serving the members of our community and honored to be part of this elite group of Hall of Fame members for the pest control industry."

Following her father's footsteps, Thomas Kendrick began her career at Arrow in 1998, learning the business through several branches in the Atlanta area. In 2003, she became the chief operating officer and in 2008 she became president. Thomas Kendrick has previously served as a member of NPMA's board of directors and is active in NPMA's Professional Women in Pest Management. Locally, she is a member of the board of directors for Atlanta-based not-for-profit St. Jude's Recovery Center and JumpStart.

"There are so many talented women in our industry, I feel very privileged and humbled to receive this award," said Thomas Kendrick. "Through my role at Arrow, I have enjoyed working with NPMA's Professional Women in Pest Management group, and it's truly an honor to be recognized for my participation. I look forward to continuing our work to advance women in the pest control industry."
